Gulf Air Extends Title Sponsorship for F1 Bahrain Grand Prix

Gulf Air, the renowned airline, has made headlines once again by renewing its title partnership with the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix, setting a new record in the world of motorsport. This exciting development comes as the airline has inked a fresh deal that will see it continue as the title sponsor of the prestigious race until 2027, maintaining its longstanding tradition of supporting the event since its inception in 2004.

The announcement of this extended partnership has sent ripples of excitement through the racing community, with fans eagerly anticipating the upcoming season. The timing of the agreement, just over two weeks before F1 testing kicks off at the iconic Bahrain International Circuit, has only added to the buzz surrounding the event.

F1 chief commercial officer, Emily Prazer, expressed her admiration for Gulf Air’s unwavering commitment to the Bahrain Grand Prix, highlighting the significance of long-term partnerships in the world of motorsport. Prazer praised the airline’s continued support over the past two decades, emphasizing its role in solidifying the race’s position as a fan-favorite on the Formula 1 calendar, drawing spectators from around the globe for a weekend of thrilling racing and top-tier entertainment.

Michael Schumacher’s historic victory in the inaugural Bahrain GP in 2004 marked a significant milestone in F1 history, as the race became the first of its kind to be held in the Middle East. Schumacher’s triumph, leading his Ferrari team-mate Rubens Barrichello to a memorable 1-2 finish, set the stage for years of exhilarating competition in the region.

Over the years, the Bahrain GP has witnessed various changes in its scheduling, having served as the season opener on six occasions and as the curtain-raiser for the past four years. However, the race will return to its fourth slot on the 2025 calendar, ensuring that it does not clash with the observance of Ramadan, a move that reflects the organizers’ commitment to cultural sensitivity and inclusivity.

Jeffrey Goh, CEO of Gulf Air Group, expressed his pride in the enduring partnership with Formula 1, underscoring the race’s importance in showcasing Bahrain on the global motorsport stage. Goh emphasized that the collaboration not only enhances Bahrain’s international visibility but also plays a vital role in driving economic growth, promoting tourism, and elevating the kingdom’s global brand recognition.

At the recent Autosport Business Exchange: London event, Bahrain International Circuit chief executive Sheikh Salman bin Isa Al-Khalifa shed light on the track’s diverse programming, which has expanded to include a wide range of events beyond traditional racing competitions. From hosting the Bahrain Comic Con to the Bahrain Darts Masters, the circuit has become a hub for entertainment and cultural exchange, further cementing its status as a premier destination for motorsport enthusiasts and event-goers alike.

As the excitement builds for the upcoming Formula 1 season, fans, drivers, and sponsors alike are gearing up for another thrilling chapter in the Bahrain Grand Prix’s storied history. With Gulf Air’s continued support and the unwavering dedication of all involved, the race is poised to captivate audiences around the world and deliver yet another unforgettable weekend of racing action.
